New Possibilities

To get ready for future society with artificial intelligence, our educators need not only new analytical skillsets for beyond-the-data effectiveness, new multidimensional designs of teaching and learning, but also new research methods, as well as new philosophy of technology in education, and new frameworks of approach to socio-educational changes.

Artificial Intelligence in Education

Almost every day, we have learned that the combination of social media ubiquity, technological permeation, AI immersion, lack of privacy, and out-of-controlled sectors can go the negative way, for example freedom of speech and expression as well as other human rights are undermined by a flood of fake news generated by A.I. products (Risse, 2019), and that AI has today an unimaginable power to shape human activity and society (Cath et al., 2017). In fact, most schools of education around the world are not well equipped to have discussions and keep current on the rapid growth of A.I. in many aspects of society and economy. They either ignore the conversation, or simply attack the entire enterprise of A.I. in education (Blikstein, 2018), but these attacks are not stopping wide dissemination of various types of A.I. in education projects in schools, mainly driven by corporations, entrepreneurialism (Knox, 2019). In such scenario of negative impacts of too fast growing AI, with its technological concepts, onto the current and future problems of education, a new bridge between A.I. scientist preparation and teacher preparation are urgently necessitated, conditioned by metaphysics overcoming.

  • Power Awareness for Democracy. You might (or might not) agree that John Dewey promoted democracy, Hannah Arendt demystified totalitarianism, Pierre Bourdieu deconstructed social fields, and Michel Foucault shed light over power through three basic dimensions: Materials, Knowledge, and History resources.
